SKYCLAN TERRITORY the sun stays 'til tomorrow | |
SkyClan lives at the heart of a deciduous forest that rests on the cliffs and moors of the eastern English coastline. The forest opens up into hills due north, and flattens into a speckled moorland on the other bank of the river cutting through across the territory. ALDER GULLY. The heart of the rewritten SkyClan, the alder gully is an old, water-worn ravine that has since dried since the moons of yesteryear. The ravine is surrounded by ferns and tall alder trees, keeping the warriors cool during the warmer suns of Greenleaf. SKYWAY OAK. A tall, ancient oak tree as wide as three normal oaks, this oak is a leafclaw's best friend. While not the only way up into the Skyway, the leafclaw's preferred method of travel, hunting, and patrolling, this oak's bark is worn by the claw-marks of living and deceased leafclaws alike - rumored to have been climbed successfully to its very top by the Leafclaw herself. THORNBUSH YEW. Rumored to be as old as the forest itself, the Old Yew is a popular training ground for aspiring leafclaws. It sits beside the river in a sandy hollow stunted with shrubs and little boulders. Thornbushes line the hollow it rests in. THE SANDFERN ARENA. A sandy hollow crowded with lush ferns, the Sandfern Arena is the ideal destination for fernclaws to train their apprentices. A fallen log sits to one side of the clearing, a tree struck down during a mighty storm before the Clan arrived. This is where duels to settle quarrels also take place. PINE GROVE. A small grove of pine trees sitting on the edge of SkyClan's marked territory, spotted with red flowers and clovers covering the soil-covered clearing. WATCHER'S RISE. A series of hills that taper into cliffs on the other side of the northern river bank, they look over the small forest and adjacent Twolegplace by the coast. If they need to survey something in the distance, SkyClan warriors may go to the highest summit and act as a scout. GREAT BOULDER HOLLOW. Right at the centre of the land SkyClan claims sits a small hollow studded with an enormous boulder crowded by shrubs. One claims that if you squint hard enough, you can see the horizon of the sea in the distance. THE RIVER. Running through the middle of SkyClan territory, it feeds into the falls at Shellprint Cliffs. It's the Clan's primary source of freshwater, as it is closer than the Cloud Pools. There are numerous places to cross over fallen logs or stepping-stones, with the most popular being at Great Boulder Hollow and the wooden bridge on the Twoleg trail path. TWOLEG TRAIL. A Twoleg trail moves through the middle of the territory, crossing down from the Twolegplace and across the river and through the southern part of SkyClan's forest. It is most active during the warm seasons, but the Twolegs seem to mind their own business for the most part. Their dogs, should they bring them, do not. SEASIDE TWOLEGPLACE. Albeit without thunderpaths, this Twolegplace has a number of small rural Twoleg dens. They are typically quiet, older Twolegs who sit at the tiny set of docks on the beach below it, and their gardens are full of herbs precious, especially when out of growing season. It is heavily discouraged that any warrior here goes here without good reason or specific orders. SUN-SEER ROCK. In the farthest northeastern reach of the territory, on the edge of a tall white English cliff, sits the Sunseer Rock: a huge, tall boulder that sits precariously on the edge of the cliff above the beach far below. SkyClan gathers here for the Festival of the Longest Sun every year to watch the sun rise out of the Sunrise Sea. SUNRISE SEA. To the east of the forest sits what the Clan calls the Sunrise Sea, as every morning, the sun rises out of the water and into the sky until the next day. A series of cliffs elevate the forest from the sandy beaches. SHELLPRINT CLIFFS. To the southeast sits a series of waterfalls that run from the end of the river and down into the Sunrise Sea below. Named for the shells you can find almost everywhere on its beaches, great boulders and cliff stairways crowd this area, making for easy access to the beaches, not to mention the numerous nooks and crannies spotting the location to provide shelter should any cat need it. RABBIT'S GLIDE. An open space in an otherwise tree-packed land, Rabbit's Glide moor is home to a number of rabbit warrens that are rumored to run underneath the entire cliffside. Only the swiftest warriors can catch the rabbits that roam this meadow. SUN BIRCHES. Just north of Rabbit's Glide sits the Sun Birches, a small cluster of tall, brindled birch trees that are filled with unsuspecting prey. Fernclaws are taught how to run quickly over the open glide and even host the Running of Rabbit's Glide every Leaf-fall. CLOUD POOLS. West of the glide and underneath the forest are the Cloud Pools: pools of water that are as clear as the sky itself. THE OLD PINE. On a small island in the middle of the largest Cloud Pool sits the Old Pine: a huge, archaic pine tree that seems to touch the clouds themselves. |
